Paul’s letters bring this out numerous times, for example:
Romans 12: 1, “present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice,”
Galatians 6: 2, “bear one another’s burdens... fulfill the law of Christ,”
Philippians 3: 10, “the fellowship of His suffering,”
2 Timothy 2:10 “For this reason I endure all things for the sake of those who are chosen.”
For the first reading meeting on Wednesday, we would like to cover Matthew 5: 1-16 with the ‘Sermon on the Mount’ culminating with “Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven.”
Continuing on Thursday are two selections.
Matthew 10:24-42 where the empowered disciples preached the kingdom. We read of both persecutions and rewards. Christ was willing to die for His kingdom and He is worthy for us to take up His cross. After this we will read a second section to “Take My yoke,” from Matthew 11:25-30, “and you will find rest for your souls.”
Continuing on Friday are two selections:
There are five verses from Matthew 18:15-20 followed by seven verses from Matthew 16:13-20, revelations about the NT church. We are starting with Matthew 18 and step back to chapter 16 because on Saturday we wanted to go from the selections on taking up our cross in chapter 16 and read on into the transfiguration account in chapter 17 to finish conference on a high note.
Saturday’s reading is Matthew 16:21-28 and continuing through Matthew 17:1-8 and this finishes conference with a look at the glorified Lord Jesus.
